Keloid scar treatment is to help with the effects and appearance of keloid Scars. The treatment can help reduce redness, alleviate symptoms, flatten the scar, and stimulate collagen remodelling.
During your consultation, our cosmetic doctor will answer all your questions and make sure you are comfortable going forward with your keloid scar treatment.
It’s important to note that keloid scars can be stubborn and may require a combination of treatments to achieve satisfactory results.
The choice of treatment depends on various factors, including the size, location, and severity of the keloid, as well as your medical history and preferences.
Keloid scars are raised, thickened scars that form after an injury or surgery. They occur when the body produces an excess amount of collagen, skin natural glue, during the healing process. The resulting scar tissue does not match the original injury, often growing much larger in size. Keloid scars can be cosmetically bothersome and may cause itching, discomfort, or pain.
Whilst there is no definitive cure for keloid scars, our laser scar removal can help reduce their appearance and alleviate symptoms.
Laser therapy for keloid scars can be safe and effective when performed by a qualified healthcare professional with experience in treating keloids. However, it’s important to note that there are risks and potential side effects associated with any medical procedure, including laser therapy.
Your doctor will administer numbing creams or injections prior to any treatments. Some mild discomfort may be experience whilst having the injections though they enable you to feel very minimal discomfort during the treatment itself. All care is taken to ensure you have the most comfortable experience possible.
Healing from your treatment typically occurs over 7-10 days. Remodelling of scar tissue and reductions in scar appearance may take up to 6 months for maximal improvement to become apparent. Treatments should be spaced out according to how successful healing occurs, it can be highly individual in the case of keloid scars.
Each scar treatment starts from $400.
