Collagen loss is a major contributor to facial aging and Aptos thread lift is the tool for minimally invasive skin rejuvenation. Collagen is a fibrous protein that gives structure and support to the skin. When the skin’s collagen content decreases with age, it results in the typical signs of ageing such as saggy, loose skin and wrinkles.
An Aptos thread lift will not only lift saggy and loose skin to restore it, but it also acts as a collagen biostimulator. The purpose of a collagen biostimulator is to activate collagen renewal in the skin, and thereby help restore it’s inner structure and volume. This is the main reason for continual improvement of the Aptos thread result over many months following a thread lift.
Nasolabial folds are best described as the two skin folds on the side of the nose and corner of the mouth. It is said that as a person ages, the fold becomes more pronounced as a result of mid face sagging, but not always. Nasolabial folds can also form in young people due to genetic predisposition, excessive facial expressions, weight loss and bad habits. As a result, problems appear that can hardly be hidden by makeup.
Getting rid of wrinkles with a massage is unlikely to succeed; moreover, an unprofessional procedure can worsen the situation by stretching new folds. Don’t take the risk. It is better to ask a professional cosmetic doctor for more delicate and effective solutions.
Lots of people use a HA cosmetic filler to correct the wrinkles on the face but this method can , in some cases, only worsen the situation, making the face look “heavy.” Besides, cosmetic filler is sometimes not enough to improve results. It is better to combine this with a thread lift.
Wrinkle of Sadness (Marionette Line)
The drooping mouth corners are called “wrinkles of sadness” as they give the face an expression of sadness, and associate the individual with helplessness and grumpiness. Is this a true reflection of character?
Not really. The reasons for “wrinkles of sadness” are objective and age-related: a reduction of cheek volume and skin elasticity can cause the skin to hang over this area. These changes are more evident at ages 35-40s. Drooping mouth corners can be inherited as well. These people are usually asked -“Why are you sad?” – not just in difficult moments. We think everyone agrees that the situation is not pleasant, and they want to get rid of the wrinkles with the help of a non-surgical face lift.
“Wrinkles of sadness” can be removed easily and quickly thanks to the Aptos thread lift. The procedure is not painful, does not leave scars, is short and requires minimum downtime. Results persist for approximately two to three years with the use of absorbable threads, and up to five years with non-absorbable threads. The effectiveness of these results can be determined by genetic predisposition, a patient’s lifestyle and how well the patient complies with recommendations during the recovery period.

What you need to know about an Aptos thread lift.
Our Aptos thread lift procedures comply with Australian Regulatory requirements and are listed on the ARTG. In addition, your cosmetic doctor at QC Skin Clinic Rowville has been accredited by Aptos and has been fully trained in the Aptos techniques for thread lifting.
An Aptos thread lift is designed to lift and tighten saggy skin, smooth wrinkles, stimulate collagen production and improve skin tone, texture and colour, giving you a more natural and long-lasting appearance. This non surgical face lift is a popular procedure to achieve that younger refreshed look several years after treatment. You can depend on our skin specialist in Melbourne for effective and long lasting results.
How does a thread lift work?
Thin threads are inserted gently into the soft tissue of the target area and a local anaesthetic is used to calm the skin, ensuring a comfortable experience. There is no cutting of the skin and no scarring. The absorbable threads dissolve within 18-24 months. Before they dissolve, they create a support scaffolding of collagen for the skin, to support and lift the skin for many years to come. In addition to the lift effect, a thread lift will result in firmer skin and improved skin colour, tone, texture and hydration. Typically, the procedure takes 30 – 60 minutes.
The unique thread design utilises specially developed and patented soft barbs, also known as cogs, which attach to the surrounding tissue, just like Velcro. This helps hold the skin in place to achieve the desired lift effect. The benefits of a thread lift can last for several years depending on the areas treated and individual response. Your doctor may also recommend thread lifting in combination with other treatments such as a dermal cosmetic filler and anti-wrinkle injections depending on your requirements.
How long have Aptos thread lift been available?
Absorbable threads have been available in Australia and New Zealand since 2009. However, the Aptos threads have been available overseas for over 20 years. The material from which the absorbable threads are made from is the same material that has been used in conventional dissolvable sutures that are generally used for surgery procedures.
Advantages of an Aptos Thread Lift.
(a) A lifting action for an immediate lift effect
(b) A rejuvenating effect promoting the restoration of lost collagen.
What can a thread lift do for you?
The ideal candidate for a thread lift is someone who has sagging or loose skin and is seeking a refreshed appearance without having unnecessary downtime and expense. A thread lift is an ideal solution to treat different areas; it can help with the following:
When can I get back to my usual social life?
The majority of patients resume normal social activities within a few days. Your cosmetic doctor will advise you on about follow up requirements to ensure the best result.
What are the possible side effects?
Occasionally some local discomfort or light pain may occur; this can be treated with oral analgesics. Sometimes local bruising may be evident. Cold compresses are recommended for the first 2 hours after the procedure. Your doctor will explain more at the time of consultation.
Can thread lift be combined with other cosmetic procedures?
It is not uncommon to combine this procedure with other cosmetic procedures such as Botulinum toxin to reduce facial muscle activity; Dermal cosmetic filler such as hyaluronic acid or fat to enhance skin volume; and laser skin resurfacing to improve skin texture and collagen formation. Ask your doctor for more information.
