Superficial skin cancers are confined to the top layers of the skin.
Traditionally, these cancers have been treated surgically.
However, Surgery is associated with scarring and proves difficult some circumstances.
The non-surgical treatment for skin cancer can be grouped into two main categories:

1.Creams

Topical creams can be prescribed for treatment of superficial skin cancers. A wide range of topical creams for treatment of superficial skin cancers are available on the market, with an average treatment duration of 6 weeks.

2.Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

PDT is a highly effective, non-invasive treatment to eradicate superficial skin cancers while delivering excellent cosmetic results.
The procedure consists of application of a cream (METVIX) to the skin lesions followed by exposure to a special red light.
The active ingredient of the cream is selectively absorbed by the cancer cells, and when exposed to the red light, the cancer cells are destroyed by a chemical reaction. This minimises potential scarring and side effects from the procedure.
